Downtown buildings and historic houses, in the same town

Morristown splits cleanly into two moving jobs. Around the Green and the downtown there are condos, converted buildings and newer apartment developments, and those work like any managed building: a certificate of insurance to the management company's wording, a service lift booked into a window, and a loading area with a time on it. Some of the newer buildings restrict moves to weekdays.

Outside that core, and out toward Morris Township, it is period single-family housing, some of it genuinely historic. Older houses mean narrower stairs, tighter turns on the landings, and original floors and banisters that need protecting rather than merely avoiding. We pad and protect as a matter of course, not as an upsell.

There is also a good deal of corporate relocation through this part of Morris County, which brings inventory and reporting requirements from the relocation programme. We work inside those regularly.

What we ask before we quote it

  • Whether the building requires a COI or a booked lift
  • Any restriction on which days or hours moves are allowed
  • How the staircase runs, and whether floors need protecting
  • Whether an employer or relocation programme is involved
