Shore towns and everything behind them

Monmouth County splits along the coast. In the shore towns a good deal of the housing sits on raised foundations or has been elevated since the storms, which means external stairs before the front door is even reached, and that is real carrying time that belongs in an estimate rather than in a surprise at the end.

Beach-area streets are also narrow and, in season, parked solid. Where a full-size truck cannot get down the block and stand, the work is shuttled, and it is far better to plan that than to discover it.

Inland the county is conventional suburban housing on decent lots with proper driveways, which is straightforward work. There is also a steady amount of seasonal and second-home movement here, along with a lot of downsizing, and both are jobs we do regularly.

Monmouth is a longer run from our New Jersey warehouse than our Union and Essex County work, so travel time is stated plainly in the estimate rather than buried in it.

What we ask before we quote it

  • Whether the property is elevated, and how many external steps there are
  • Whether a full-size truck can get down the street and stand
  • Which floors are involved, and whether there is a lift
  • Whether the move is a full house, a seasonal move or a downsize
