Government and public sector moving in New Jersey

Public agencies do not move the way households do. There is paperwork before anyone lifts a box, buildings that need a certificate of insurance on file, and a service the public still expects to run while the move happens. We have been doing this out of the same New Jersey warehouse since 1975.

Who we move

Agencies we work with across New Jersey

Public agencies are among our largest accounts. Two of our top ten customers this year are New Jersey public bodies.

🏫

School districts and boards of education

Classrooms, administrative offices, libraries, furniture and equipment, worked around the academic calendar.

🏛

Municipal and county offices

Departmental relocations, building consolidations and moves staged around renovation work.

🗳

Boards of elections

Voting equipment and election material moved and returned with chain of custody.

🏠

Housing authorities

Unit turnovers, resident relocations and authority office moves.

🎓

Public colleges and libraries

Departmental moves, collections, laboratory and office relocations.

💼

Government services contractors

Support for contractors delivering federal and state programs in New Jersey.

What makes a public move different

Built around procurement, buildings and uptime

Procurement comes first

We are used to quote formats, W-9s, vendor onboarding packets and formal solicitations. Send us your bid documents and we will respond in the format you need.

Certificates of insurance

Most public buildings, and the private ones you are moving into, require a COI naming the right parties before the truck arrives. We issue them as a matter of course.

The office cannot close

Evening, weekend and phased moves so residents and staff are not turned away. Crews run Monday through Saturday.

Records stay accounted for

File rooms, archives and sensitive material moved with chain of custody, and stored in our own secure warehouse if you need space between buildings.

Equipment and IT

Desks, server racks, workstations and specialised equipment disconnected, moved and set back up where it belongs.

One point of contact

A named coordinator from the site walk through to the final placement, not a call centre.

Why agencies keep calling us

Fifty years, one name, our own warehouse

University Van Lines has moved families and institutions across New Jersey and New York City since 1975. We run employee crews rather than day labour, we own our warehouse in Rahway rather than brokering space, and we are fully licensed, accredited and insured. References and insurance certificates are available on request.

Tell us the buildings, the timing and the constraints

We walk the site before we put numbers on paper. If you are running a formal bid, send the package and we will complete it properly.

Questions we are asked

Public sector moving, answered

Can you provide a certificate of insurance?

Yes. We issue certificates of insurance naming the parties your building or agency requires, as a standard part of scheduling the move.

Do you respond to formal bids and solicitations?

Yes. Send us the package and we will complete it in the format required, including the forms, references and insurance documentation.

Can you work evenings and weekends so we stay open?

Yes. Public offices and schools are usually moved outside service hours or in phases. Our crews run Monday through Saturday.

Can you store items between buildings?

Yes. We have our own secure warehouse in Rahway, New Jersey, so furniture, records and equipment can be held between a move out and a move in.

Do you handle records and sensitive material?

Yes. File rooms and archives are moved with chain of custody so material stays accounted for from origin to destination.
