Ask whether the mover is licensed and insured. For interstate moves, confirm DOT/MC information. For local moves, check applicable state licensing.
Ask what is included
Before choosing a mover, ask what the estimate includes: labor, truck, travel time, packing, materials, storage, stairs, elevators, long carry, shuttle needs, COIs, and valuation coverage.
Pay attention to communication
A reliable mover should ask good questions. Origin, destination, move date, inventory, building rules, parking, stairs, elevator access, packing needs, and timing all matter.
Watch out for red flags
Be cautious with vague pricing, pressure tactics, no written estimate, no clear business identity, poor communication, or a quote that seems far below everyone else.
